Are you a candidate for intragastric balloon placement?
The general guideline for placement of intragastric balloon is for patient with BMI more than 27 kg/m². The effect of this balloon in higher-BMI patients was less profound compared to patients with lower BMI. It just means it works better in lower BMI group. If you have previous stomach operation, it is better not to consider this since the incident of gastric perforation is higher. Are you a candidate for weight-loss surgery?
If you are severely obese (over weight), i.e. body mass index (BMI) of 37.5 kg/m² or more, you are eligible for weight loss surgery to reduce your weight. If your BMI is more than 32.5 kg/m² with obesity related co-morbidity, such as, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, high cholesterol level, back pain, and sleep apnea, you can also consider surgery to lose weight. What is your next step?
